From To-Do to Ta-Da: How to Finally Tackle the Never-Ending Holiday List
The holidays come with magic in the air… and a mountain of tasks that seem to grow by the minute. Between school events, family gatherings, shopping lists, baking, decorating, wrapping, planning, and somehow still remembering to breathe, the to-do list can feel completely overwhelming.
That’s why I stopped calling mine a To-Do List and started calling it my Ta-Da List—because instead of focusing on what hasn’t been done, it helps me celebrate what HAS been done. And during this hectic, chaotic, beautiful season, a mindset shift like that is everything.
Here are the Top 5 Ways to Turn Your To-Do List into a Ta-Da List This Holiday Season—all while enjoying your family, slowing down, and soaking in the moments that matter most.

1. Break Tasks Into “One-Song” Wins
Instead of looking at big tasks that feel impossible, clean the house, prep for guests, wrap all the gifts—break them into tiny pieces you can finish in one holiday song.
- Wipe counters (one song)
- Wrap three gifts (one song)
- Switch laundry (half a song 😉)
Every time you finish one? Ta-Da!
Check it off and feel that little spark of accomplishment.
2. Make a “Must-Do / Would-Be-Nice” List
Not everything deserves equal priority—especially during the holidays.
Must-Do: things with deadlines, commitments, or that truly matter.
Would-Be-Nice: tasks that can happen later… or maybe not at all.
Give yourself permission to let the “would-be-nice” items move to next week, or next month, or never. Your peace matters more than a perfectly curated holiday moment.

3. Create a Family Ta-Da Board
This is a fun way to get everyone involved!
Grab a whiteboard or piece of poster board and write small wins throughout the week:
- “We baked cookies together!”
- “We watched a Christmas movie as a family!”
- “We delivered diapers to the drive!”
- “We took 10 minutes to breathe and reset.”
Seeing these moments adds joy to the daily chaos and reminds you that the memories matter more than the mess.
4. Turn Tasks Into Moments
Instead of rushing through everything, tasks turn into opportunities to slow down and connect.
- Wrap gifts while watching a holiday classic with your kids
- Fold laundry while drinking hot cocoa
- Meal prep with Christmas music and a dance break
- Bring the kids into your giving projects and talk about gratitude
A Ta-Da List is just as much about how you do things as what you accomplish.

5. End Each Day With a “Ta-Da Reflection”
Before bed, take 30 seconds to list 3–5 things you did today, no matter how small:
- “I made the bed.”
- “I took care of myself today with a quiet moment.”
- “I encouraged someone.”
- “I kept the kids alive and fed—Ta-Da!”
This mindset shift transforms exhaustion into gratitude, chaos into accomplishment, and overwhelm into peace.

Give Yourself the Gift of Grace This Season
Your worth is not measured by how many items you crossed off a list.
It’s found in:
✨ The hugs
✨ The laughter
✨ The moments of stillness
✨ The memories you’re making
✨ The purpose behind everything you do
Let your Ta-Da List remind you daily that you’re doing enough—and you’re doing it beautifully.

You did it!!!! That matters. Celebrate those small and big accomplishments. Have a great holiday season. Enjoy it and embrace it. Until next time…
